The theory of evolution is a scientific theory that is in opposition to the biblical doctrine of creationism attempts to explain how organisms change over time. It was proposed by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace in the 19th century. The theory states that organisms produce more offspring than can survive, and the fittest organisms pass on their traits to the next generation (this process is called natural selection).
