Israel, officially the State of Israel, is a nation-state in the Middle East. It disputes much of it's territory with neighbouring Arab countries, most notably Palestine and Syria.
It was founded by the British after the Second World War and the horrors of the holocaust to be a homeland for non-messianic Jews.
