Matthew Slick is the founder and president of the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM). Matt was raised in a nominally Christian home. In his early life, he was involved in the occult but became introduced to Christianity when he was 17. He was an assistant pastor in a Christian Reformed Church and a senior pastor in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). Both were in southern California at two reformed churches. Now Slick runs CARM full time, and is married to his wife Annick (a-neek) and has three daughters. Matt graduated from Christ College Irvine (Lutheran, LCMS) in Irvine, CA, in 1987 with a Bachelor’s in Social Science. In 1991, he earned his Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary (Presbyterian) in Escondido, CA
Slick started CARM in 1995 to help answer critics’ questions and to make it easy to provide answers to more than one person at a time in chat rooms and the early bulletin board systems. As of May 2024, it has had over 162 million visitors. CARM supports missionaries working around the world, including Colombia [miapic.org miapic.org], Brazil defendendoafe.com.br, Africa, and Turkey.
