The Philadelphia Confession (1742) is a confession of faith, which is a result of the Philadelphia Association of Baptist Churches adopting the Second London Baptist Confession (1689) and adding to it an additional modification (which was an allowance for the singing of hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs in the Lord's Supper and made optional the laying on of hands in baptism).
