Doctrine of Election

Webster's 1828 dictionary defines election as ". . .divine choice; predetermination of God, by which persons are distinguished as objects of mercy, become subjects of grace, are sanctified and prepared for heaven." In Christian Theology, Election most often refers to God's sovereign choosing of His church to fulfill the Covenant of Redemption.
