Webster's 1828 dictionary defines election as ". . .divine choice; predetermination of God, by which persons are distinguished as objects of mercy, become subjects of grace, are sanctified and prepared for heaven."[1] In Christian Theology, Election most often refers to God's sovereign choosing of His church to fulfill the Covenant of Redemption.
