Wilford Woodruff

Wilford Woodruff (1807 - 1898) was the President of the Church of Latter-day Saints from 1889 to his death in 1898.

He implemented significant reforms, most notably the Manifesto of 1890, which officially ended the church’s practice of polygamy, aligning it with U.S. law and paving the way for Utah's statehood. His leadership marked a turning point as the church transitioned from isolation and defiance of federal authority to a more mainstream and cooperative stance within American society.
