Left Wing Politics
Left Wing Politics (sometimes called Leftism) generally refers to political ideologies that advocate for social equality, government intervention in the economy, and the protection of workers' rights. Left-wing movements typically support policies that aim to reduce economic inequality, such as progressive taxation, social welfare programs, and labour protections.
Christianity has influenced the development of some left wing ideologies (as well as some right wing ideologies), particularly through the promotion of social justice, equality, and care for the marginalized. Many key figures in the history of leftist movements have drawn inspiration from Christian teachings about love, compassion, and the inherent dignity of all people.
Christian socialism is a distinct strain of leftism, drawing influence from scripture on how socialism could best be implemented. Christian communism, however, places too much emphasis on human will and power, often verging on heresy.
