Arminianism is a soteriological system created by Jakobus Arminius, a Dutch Reformed theologian. It posits that the predestination of God affects only those he knew were fated to choose him anyway.
It was this theology that caused early Reformed scholastics to formalism orthodox Calvinism in the Canons of Dort, which lay out the 5 Points of Calvinism.
