Doctrine of Divine Simplicity

The doctrine of divine simplicity (DDS) is the confessional doctrine that God is "without ... parts" (2LCF 2.1). There is nothing more absolute than God. Since He is independent of any external cause, He does not depend on any external cause, entity, or reason to exist. His essence is His existence. As Exodus 3:14 declares, God's name is "I AM THAT I AM," and therefore, divine simplicity necessarily follows from divine aseity.
