Temple in Jerusalem

The Temple in Jerusalem was a central place of worship and sacrifice in ancient Judaism, considered the home of God on Earth. The First Temple, built by King Solomon in the 10th century BCE, was a magnificent structure where the Ark of the Covenant was kept, and offerings were made to God. It was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. The Second Temple was constructed in the late 6th century BCE after the Jewish people returned from Babylonian exile and was expanded and renovated by King Herod in the 1st century BCE. This temple stood until it was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE during the Siege of Jerusalem.

The Temple holds immense religious and historical significance in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
