Eli McGowan is an American Presbyterian and filmmaker based in Tennessee, he adheres to the Westminster Confession of Faith and is a member of a church in the PCA. McGowan holds a MFA in Film & Television from the Savannah College of Art & Design and a BS in Government from Liberty University. McGowan was homeschooled with his seven younger siblings, and he had left law school in 2016 to pursue filmmaking.[1]
Beyond filmmaking, McGowan is active in political, social, and religious issues, with a focus on fundamentalism, history, and the far-right. He has engaged in video journalism, including coverage of white nationalist movements, and has participated in or organized protests related to pro-life issues, Black Lives Matter, and anti-Trump activism. He has also worked in public relations and lobbying in Washington, D.C.
In March 2025, McGowan released an online article detailing the previous moral failures in Joel Webbon's personal life, and has criticized him as being disqualified from pastoral ministry.[2]
